Pakistan Seeks UNICEF Help Over Delayed Vaccine Supplies from India
Pakistan’s Ministry of National Health has contacted UNICEF over delays in vaccine supplies from India, sources said on Sunday. The vaccines include doses for polio, measles, and typhoid. Officials stressed that timely delivery is vital for ongoing immunisation campaigns across the country.

According to sources, Pakistan requested UNICEF to urgently intervene in the matter. They urged swift action to avoid disruptions in vaccination schedules. UNICEF has assured Pakistan of efforts to resolve the supply chain problem quickly.

Sources confirmed that UNICEF has already procured over 17 million vaccine doses for Pakistan. The total cost of these vaccines is around 27 billion rupees. Of this, UNICEF funded 60 per cent, while Pakistan covered the remaining 40 per cent.

The vaccines were to be supplied by an Indian company contracted by UNICEF. Delivery was expected in early July. However, the company has reportedly delayed shipments, affecting distribution plans.Such delays risk interrupting vital health services in vulnerable communities.

Health experts warn that gaps in immunisation can lead to outbreaks of preventable diseases. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation.

Pakistan and UNICEF continue discussions to find an immediate solution. The government has pledged to ensure uninterrupted vaccination drives. Efforts are underway to secure alternate arrangements if delays persist.
